WELCOME TO OUR WEBSITE

Welcome to Muskegon - home of the Muskegon-Lakeshore Chapter of the American Guild of Organists!  Originally Muskegon was known as the “Lumber Queen” as our city has its roots in the lumbering industry.  More recently, Muskegon has been nicknamed the “Port City” because of its accessibility to ships and pleasure crafts alike utilizing beautiful Muskegon Lake! Muskegon began as a lumbering community and then became a very industrialized city.  Today we are a destination for many who wish to explore the beauty of our natural resources and bountiful beaches and lakes, as well as historic buildings, a world class Art Museum and many fine performing groups, including the West Shore Symphony Orchestra, the Muskegon Chamber Choir, Camerata Singers, West Michigan Winds and Muskegon Civic Theatre -- just to name a few!

As dean of the Muskegon-Lakeshore Chapter of the American Guild of Organists, I would like to welcome you to our web page.  Since 1960, the members of our Chapter have served the varied religious communities of our area, encompassing the communities of Muskegon, north to Fremont and south to the tri-cities of Grand Haven, Spring Lake and Ferrysburg.  We are anticipating a varied and exiting celebration of our chapter in 2010 as we become 50 years old!

We continue to offer programs of interest to the organist, enthusiast and general public.  Please check our program roster for this year and browse through our newsletter, PIPENOTES.

Please feel free to contact any of the board members if you might be coming to Muskegon and would like to know more about any of our instruments or programming.  We are home to many interesting and classic organs.  Be sure to check our web site for a virtual tour of organs in our area.

If you would like to become a member, please take a moment to read our membership form available to you on-line.
